Marble facades dress the fanciest stores and provide them with great elegance. Acid rain and air pollution make them dirty and dull.
Cleaning of a marble facade
The cleaning of marble facades and natural stone can be carried out in a chemical or mechanical way according to the type of aggression and wear to which they were subjected.
The cleaning with chemicals is mainly carried out with water while grinding may be done wet or dry depending on the type of stone to be treated.
Grinding a marble wall in Paris
Grinding a facade in marble or other natural stone is realized when it is severely damaged. We will notice scratches or porosity in the stone. This grinding can be done with water or dry (with suction) to generate minimal discomfort to the passage.
Crystallization of a natural stone facade
Crystallization of marble walls gives them gloss and strengthens their resistance in time. This treatment closes the surface and forms a less porous layer which is more resistant to wear and graffiti.
Crystallization can be completed or replaced by an anti-tag treatment (anti-graffiti) at exposed surfaces.
Project in the VIIIth district in Paris
For this project in the rue du Faubourg St Honoré in Paris, a part of the facade was grinded prior to the general repair of grouts and crystallization. Thanks to the use of light scaffolding and techniques using little water, the sidewalk could still be used.
