Presentation of a renovation project of an entrance hall in marble (Belgian noir de Mazy and small tiles in Carrara).
Situation prior to the renovation :
Multiple white tiles lay below floor level, a lot of scratches and splashes were present on the tiles in black marble.
The floor was generally dull and “never clean”.
Restoring the grouts
The renovation begins with repairing and puttying the grouts. The restoration is performed with dyed polyester resin. This makes it also possible to fix the loose tiles and to obtain at the end of the process a smooth floor (grouts at floor level) and a uniform result.
Grinding the marble
Then the marble is grinded. This is an extremely important step as it places the tiles in black marble and the small tiles on the same level. Grinding also removes the scratches and the excess resin due to restoration of grouts.
Crystallization and polishing the marble
The customer has chosen a high gloss finish and a uniform result between the tiles in noir de Mazy and the white tiles in Carrara, the tiles that were replaced in the past and the repaired tiles. The finish was realized by means of crystallization with powder (marble polish), followed by traditional crystallization to obtain a uniform gloss and a better resistance in time.
