A terrazzo floor in mosaic is one of the most noble floors that exist. This type of floor stays beautiful over time but must be regularly looked after to keep its splendor.
Restoration of the damaged mosaic
When terrazzo has been damaged it is possible to restore it using similar stones and binders. The renovation must be carefully prepared to find the right stones and binders. This reference shows the restoration of an entrance hall following the replacement of a door by the owner.
Repairing cracks in a terrazzo
As for the restoration the key element for success of such an intervention is the ability to find the same color. Once the crack is filled, it has to be grinded at the same floor level. The whole surface must be grinded for an optimal result.
Grinding and crystallization of a terrazzo floor in a hotel in Paris
For this renovation project, seven different types of stone were used for this floor dating back to 1970.
The entire floor has been grinded and polished to obtain a sparkling result. Crystallization was carried out as to keep a difference in the brightness between the different stone types and to give a lot of character to the floor.
