Edge grinding consists of aggressive mechanical grinding to obtain a flat floor. The purpose of this operation is to grind the tiles that are not on the same level as the other tiles, to avoid a difference in level between the tiles of the floor.
Edge grinding will only be realized when rough marble (unpolished) was placed ( known as rough sawn marble, with very small grouts) or when (polished) marble was badly placed or if its appearance has changed in time.
This operation takes a lot of time but normally is only realized once in the lifetime of a floor.
This operation is realized with very powerful rotating machines and diamond tools or aggressive abrasives.
